i * I ( In an interview with a representaI tive of the “Chronicle," Mr. W. A. Phillips, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association, Limited, stated, inter alia, that the usual second, or interim, payment would be made to suppliers this month on pigs supplied from June 1 to October 31 (inclusive In these months, compared with the corresponding period last year, supply showed an increase of over 40 per cent. Realisations so far completed, both for export and local consumption, for pigs handled during this period , have been very satisfactory, and since the outlook of the export market upon which the balance of stocks will be sold is very promising, the following cash payments have been decided upon:— Porkers to 801 b., lid per lb.; 811 b. to 1001 b., lid; 1011 b. to 1201 b., lid. Baconers, lid per lb. Choppers, 3d per lb. Unexportable porkers, "d per lb. Unexportable baconers, 2d per lb. These payments are exclusive of share credits, both in respect of capital and shareholders’ bonus on qualified supply, which will be adjusted in the final payment to suppliers at the usual time after the close of the company's financial year. Asked as to the prospects for an increase in our exports for the present season, Mr. Phillips stated that the present outlook was promising, In which a pleasing feature was the recent high values ruling for baconers I which, although due to a local shortage now practically overtaken, would ] have the effect of stimulating production in this class of pig which was very desirable in the interests ■ ur export trade.
