ADRIAN QUIST FIT

BENEFICIAL REST THINKS HIGHLY OF BROMWICH . SYDNEY, Oct. 22. Adrian Quist is looking well after a three weeks’ rest at his home at Glenelg, S.A. He had a hit with Len Schwartz at the nets and decided to play for Glenelg against East Torrens in district games last week. ’ln tlie doubles match he was rather erratic overhead, and lacked timing on ground shots for a while. But he was not extended to beat Frank Buttfield—a player ranked about eighth in South Australia. Quist whipped in services, drives, and volleys which showed that his experience abroad has enabled him to put more devil into his shots. He covered the court at great pace, and though his injured ankle is still bandaged. he is not in any way handicapped by it. It is doubtful whether Quist will defend his Queensland title in Brisbane in the championships, which | start on November 9. Probably he will , arrive in Sydney about a week before I the N.S.W. championships in order to ’ get some first-class practice. i From Sydney he will go to Mel- j bourne to defend his singles title at [ the Victorian championship meeting, 1 which begins on December 9. He will ) take part in the South Australian centenary championships during Christ- I mas week, and will return to Sydney [ for the Australian championships in | January. | Quist has put on a little weight. He I has not definitely arranged for a partner for the New South Wales doubles championship, but it may be Harry Hopman. He and Hopman are an ideal pair in many respects. According to Quist, Bromwich is likely to cause trouble to any Australian player this season.
