OLD RESIDENTS RETIRE
MR. AND MRS. R. MILL On the occasion of her their retirement, Mr. and Mrs. R. Mill, two weh known and highly respected residents at Castlecliff, were met recently by a representative gathering of citizen:, headed by the Mayor o* Wanganui (Mr. W. J. Rogers) and entertained at a social evening. About 300 guests from all parts of the district were present and tne Castlecliff Hall was gaily decorated. Mr. Mill, who was an engine driver on the Castlecliff Railway for over 30 years, and his wife were the recipients of a handbag, a wallet and a chesterfield suite. The presentations were made by the Mayor. Tributes to the high esteem in which Mr. and Mrs. Mill are held in Wanganui were paid by various speakers, included among whom were Messrs. W. A. Veitch and A. G. Bignell. Items were contributed by Mesdames W. Hulme, Wilkins and Otto and by Misses Anderson, Totty and Smith and Messrs. McFarlane, A. Mentor, D. Scott and O. Green.
