EFFORTS TO REACH SETTLEMENT [Per Press Association] AUCKLAND, Oct. 21. After deliberating on the possibility of the export of fish being made through one channel only on the basis of a payment of 2d a pound to fishermen, the directors of Sandford, Limited and representatives of other marketing interests failed to agree. The conference will be reopened to-mor-row, when it is hoped that an agreement will be reached. The object of the conference of marketing interests is to eliminate price cutting in the export trade to Australia. In the meantime the boats are still idle. The fishermen met today and the men reaffirmed their decision not to go to sea unless toe wholesale merchants paid them 2d a pound for their fish, _
