FLYING LIGHT
MISS BATTEN’S WARDROBE “Many woman seem interested to know what clothes I brought with me on the flight,” stated Miss Jean Batten in the course of an interview at Auckland. “There was not much room for luggage, but I did manage to bring a Paris model hat, from Lilian! Callet. At the moment it is still in my aeroplane, but I shall get it soon,” she said with a smile. In addition, Miss Batten brought a grey flannel suit and two afternoon frocks, one of pink linen with a white organdie collar and crystal buttons and the other of navy and white spotted silk. She brought several sets of j lingerie, two blouses, a green, jumper i (which she wore on the flight) and one pair of brown brogues. Thus has Miss Batten solved the problem of flying light. She did not bring an evening frock or a change of shoes, clothing in this case being considered by Miss Batten to be of very secondary importance to fuel.
