WANGANUI Y.M.C.A.

OPERA HOUSE DISPLAY GYMNASTICS AND COMMUNITY SINGING Community singing under leadership of Mr Vincent Ryan, eminent Australian comedian, was the feature of the concluding night of the Wanganui Y.M.C.A. annual demonstration in the Opera House last night. That the programme lound favour with the capacity audience—hundreds were turned away, unable to gam admission —was evident when each item was vociferously applauded, and encores were the order of the evening. That section of the programme which was contributed by Y.M.C.A. members was supplied by the senior members in balancing and horizontal bar work ot a very high standard, tha ladies giving exhibitions of fencing and cluo-swinging and "pyramid” displays. Items were also contributed by Mrs. R. Hulme, L.R.S.M., and Mr. A. Pike. At the conclusion Mr. D. T. Allen, chairman of the board of governors, expressed appreciation o£ the fine effort oy the artists and those assisting in the presentation of the programme, and also thanked the general public for its emphatic approval of the board s policy. Gay streamers exchanged by the audience and performers made a bright scene' as the finale presented the company singing "Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem.
