THREAT TO RESIGN
THE FRENCH PREMIER ' DEPENDENT ON RADICALS MODERATES WARNED [By Telegraph—Prebs Association —Copyright) PARIS, Oct. 19. Speaking at Orleans, the Prime Minister, M. Blum, threatened to resign and go to the country if the Radicals deserted him. He added that political honour prevented his governing on any other basis than that of the Popular Front. He fully realised that problems were disturbing his more moderate supporters, especially the prevalence of strikes. Nevertheless, repressive action against the workers would deal a mortal blow at democratic government. M. Blum similarly warned the Communists to temper their extremism, as the middle classes were becoming irritated and alarmed. The Government’s intense social and economic changes necessitated a period of stability.
