WEDDING

EAST—WESTWOOD Many relatives and friends gathered at Christ Church on Saturday afternoon, October 17, to witness the wedding of Nina Loyis, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. B. Westwood, of Keith Street, Wanganui, to Sydney Colin, younger son of Mrs. V. West, of Grant Road, Wellington. The church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion with Iceland poppies, lilies and peach blossoms. The Ven. Archdeacon J. R. Young performed the ceremony, which was choral, and Mr. F. Wentworth Slater played the wedding music. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a becoming gown of primrose embossed georgette over taffeta in the same shade. The bodice was fashioned with a cowl neckline and puff sleeves with long cuffs finished with buttons which were repeated down the back of the frock. The skirt widened into a long train with scalloped edge. Over the frock fell a primrose tulle veil held in place with a plaited halo of gold lame. Her shoes were to match and the sheath of tulips and irises she carried were also in shades of primrose. The attendants were her sisters, Misses Freda and Jean Westwood, whose dainty frocks of apple green ripple georgette were fashioned witn trains. Gold shoes and green and gold head-dresses were worn and their sheaths were composed of lemon and gold tulips. Miss Mary Bull, of Gisborne, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl in a frock of primrose sprigged organdie, primrose socks and shoes, garland in hair to match and carrying a gold posy. Mr. B. Massey, of Masterton, was best man, and the groomsman was Mr. L. McWhinnie, oi Wellington. Later a reception was held at the Rendezvous, where the guests were received by the bride’s parents, Mrs. Westwood wearing a nigger brown ensemble, brown hat and carried a posy in bronze tonings. The mother of the bridegroom wore a navy blue and white sheer georgette ensemble, hat to tone and neld a scarlet posy. Mrs. F. Bull, sister of the bridegroom, was in dark brown mariette suit with brown hat and accessories. Mrs. W. M. Lewis, aunt of the bride, was attired in a navy blue costume, with hat and shoes to match and wearing furs. The tables were tastefully decorated in a colour scheme of primrose and apple green, and the cake, iced and decorated in primrose, was made by Mr. M. Farmer, of New Plymouth. The sheaths and posies v. c/e tne work of Mrs. H. White, Keiui Street, a friend of the bride. Numerous telegrams were read during the reception, after which the guests were invited to the home of the pride’s parents and entertained there. Amid showers of confetti and many gooa wishes the happy couple left later by train for Auckland, the friends at the station singing "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” The bride wore a navy blue tailored ensemble, shell pink blouse, navy blue hat with pink flower and veil, and blue shoes. The blue gloves and purse were the gifts of the bridegroom. Their future home will be at Masterton.
