ST. GEORGE’S CHURCxu The monthly meeting of the St George’s Church Mothers’ Union was held last Friday, there being a record attendance. Four new members were admitted and a former Waitara member was welcomed. After an address by Rev. W. H. Walton, an adjournment was made for afternoon tea. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late Mrs. Hope Gibbons, who had been a great helper in all women’s movements, and had entertained members at a garden partylast FebruaryMrs. Walton read an address given by Bishop St. Barbe Holland at a large gathering of mothers at Wellington RAKARAMEA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE Mrs. Morris presided over the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute. Mrs. Potter was welcomed back after her long illness. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Hull, Carmichael, I Hopkins, Meharry and Misses Lam- / bert and McDonald. The following visitors were welcomed: Mrs. O'Brien (Pahiatua), Mrs. Haarer (Patea), Mrs. Millar (Opaku) and Miss Fowler. Mr. and Mrs. Mercer and Mr. Wilson wrote thanking the branch for its sympathy in their late bereavement. Correspondence was received dealing with articles from the Returned Soldiers’ Association, which were on sale, W.I. Christmas cards, health Stamps, and the civic reception to Mrs Watt in Hawera. It was decided to leave the R.S.A. work where it could be inspected, to buy a certain number of Christmas cards. It was decided that each member stand pledge to use at least one shilling’s worth of health stamps. As Mrs. Watt’s visit coincided with the visiting of the Blind Institute Band to Patea, one of these functions must suffer, and it was the general feeling of the branch to support the «md in Patea. Otods for the display in Patea are to be left with Mrs. Anthony, each article to be plainly labelled with the owner’s name. Mrs. Dyer was elected to be in charge of the court, and Mrs. Morris to attend to transport. A supply of official South Taranaki Federation note paper has been procured. Mrs. Haarer gave an interesting talk on savouries. The hostesses for the afternoon tea Mrs. Presland and Miss M. Fowler. A competition for the best article from a cardboard box resulted: Mrs. Dyer 1, Mrs. Anthony 2, and the best bloom. Mrs. Dyer 1, Mrs. Morris 2, Mrs. Dyer S.
