HARRIERS

Y.M.C.A. CLUB CLOSING RUN HELD. On Saturday afternoon members and supporters of the Wanganui Y.M.C.A. Harrier Club concluded their 1936 season as guests of the club’s patron, Mr. W. F. Hanton, at his residence in Keith Street. An easy run over a distance of about five miles was held, the trail being over the back of St. John’s Hill. At the conclusion of the run everyone present was entertained at afternoon tea, provided by Mrs. Hanton. Mr. N. R. Wallace, president of the club, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Hanton for the hospitality and kindness they had both bestowed on the club during the season. The members, he said, thoroughly enjoyed these outings and always looked forward to them. Mr. J. Patterson, club captain, endorsed the president’s remarks and called for cheers for the host and hostess. Mrs. Hanton suitably replied, saying it was a pleasure to entertain the boys and hoped that they had all enjoyed themselves. October 31 has been set down for the club's dinner and on November 4 the presentation of the trophies won during the season will be presented to the winners at a dance which is being promoted by the Y.M.C.A. and associate sub-clubs.
