CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES
“Doctrine of Atonement” was the subject of the lesson-sermon in all ■ Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, October 18. The Golden Text was Hebrews 9:24: “Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are tire figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us.” Among the citations which comprised the Lesson-Sermon were the following from the Bible: “Now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made, nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new, man. so making peace.” Also the following passages from I the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy: “We acknowledge Jesus’ atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through truth, life, and lov.e as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death. To keep the commandments of our Master and follow his example, is our proper debt to him, and the only worthy evidence of our gratitude for all that he has done.” (pp. 497,4.)
