WRESTLING
BOUTS AT MARTON PROFESSIONAL CONTESTS RANGITIKEI ASSOCIATION The Rangitikei Wrestling Association put on two professional bouts in the Town Hall, Marton, on Wednesday night. There appeared no doubt that the light-heavyweight bout between Brinson and Fryday was much better than the “star” contest between Penchefl and Singh. The opening struggle went the full distance of eight rounds and resulted in a victory for Brinson, of Hastings, who collected the larger share of the purse on a points decision as both he and Fryday had gained one fall each. There was life in this bout, but the main event was drab. It was a great pity that Pencheff had not had a more suitable opponent. The Indian did not infuse any life into his wrestling and marred what should have been a first-class encounter. Prior to the match between Brinson and Fryday, Mark Autunovich challenged the winner, and the bout between the Yugoslavian and the grappler from Hastings should be definitely good when it is staged in Taihape on October 31.
