MEMBERS OF GOVERNMENT EAC K TO DUTIES IN THE HOUSE PLEASED WITH STAY IN WANGANUI i Members of the party of Parlia- | mentarians who visited Wanganui during the past week-end returned to Wellington yesterday, to resume their duties in the House. Some were keen to be back in the capital as early as possible to attend a caucus meeting. They were informally farewelled at Hotel Braeburn yesterday morning by members and friends of the Wanganui Tourist and Development League. The Hon. T. F. Doyle, M.L.C., and Mr. A. S. Richards (Roskill), Senior Government Whip, conveyed the thanks of the party to the league and all others who had assisted to make their stay in Wanganui so enjoyable. Tney described the visit as a most interesting and instructive one, and assured Mr. W. J. Gibson Hughes, president of the league, that anything they could do within the bounds of possibility for Wanganui they would be pleased to do. Mr. Hughes replied on behalf nf the league. “Our plan was to invite you to Wanganui to see most of our industries, our scenic and historical attractions, together with other points of interest in town and country," he said. “I feel sure that on your return to Wellington, and later to your own home towns, you will thus have a better and more sympathetic understanding of the difficulties which face our people and district.” Mr. Hughes conveyed the thanks of the league to those people who had assisted in the arrangements and conduct of the visit, particularly mentioning the wonderful welcome «c--j corded the party bv Mr. G. F. Moore [at ' Bushy Park,” the reception and I hospitality extended by the Maori | pedpie at Parikino and Putiki, the management and staffs of various places of industry visited, and thoue who had loaned cars to enable the tours of inspection to be made. Following the public meeting on Monday night the visitors were the guests of the Wanganui branch of the Labour Party at a gathering of a social nature in the Cadora Hall.
