PROSPECTS FOR NEW ISSUES LONDON, Oct. 11. A busy week in the security markets ended with a generally firm undertone. Gilt-edged investments were subdued owing to Russia’s attitude regarding Spanish non-interven-tion which development also checked the repatriation of French capital from Great Britain and affected the foreign security markets. Industrial shares were marked up heavily during the middle of the week owing to general optimism regarding the international financial situation, but this improvement may also be due to the fact that selling of French securities was smaller than was anticipated since devaluation, and to Mr. Chamberlain’s optimistic speech. Profit taking and the buoyancy of the markets is expected to facilitate new issues of capital of which three this week were heavily over-sub-scribed.
