“THE KING STEPS OUT” The glorious voice of Grace Moore, splendid acting on the part of all, and an intriguing theijre make “The King Steps Out,” which is to be shown for the next three days at the Majestic Theatre, excellent film entertainment. Grace Moore sings her way to fame and love through a series of interesting and colourful sequences. There is no question about the acting singing capabilities of this actress, and she teams splendidly with Franchot Tone, who himself gives one of his oest performances. Both stars are supported by a very strong cast, who strike a convincing note for the film. The theme is not a new one, but it has been given a new application, and therefore is refreshing. The Austrian Emperor falls in love with a singer who masquerades as a dressmaker. In reality she is a princess, who, with her sister, visits this nearby kingdom. The matchmaking propensities of the king’s mother result in the betrothal of her son with the singer’s sister, and as it is not a love match both parties are upset. Grace Moore sets out to rectify the position by captivating the king with her own charms, and everything turns out for the best in the storybook fashion. The supporting programme is particularly good, and includes a coloured cartoon. “Fury” Lynch law is the theme of “Fury,” the Melro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture screening next Saturday at the Majestic Theatre. Spencer Tracy and Sylvia Sidney are the stars of this picture, which reaches as thrilling a climax as has ever reached the screen.
