WORKER FAILS TO CLAIM IT NOMINAL PENALTY IMPOSED i Because he did not claim the mink I mum rate of pay specified by the award, Walter Charles Vincent, who had been employed as a casual barman in the Castlecliff Hotel, was fined Jos by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Wanganui i yesterday. I Mr. S. E. McGregor, inspector of j awards at Wanganui, said that the defendant had been employed for two and a-half months and had received 110 s a day instead of 17s 6d. * I The Magistrate: And his keep?— ' Yes. i The Magistrate: And is the award 117 s 6d and his keep? Mr. McGregor: Yes, sir. ; The Magistrate: It is very liberal, surely. i Vincent pleaded guilty and had 'nothing to say. I The Magistrate: Were you out of work and glad to get this position?— ; I was on sustenance. j The Magistrate: A case for a nom- : inal penalty.
