OBITUARY

COUNTESS LYTTON LONDON, Sept. 18. The death has occurred of Countess Lytton. Countess Lytton and her twin sister, Lady Loch, celebrated their ninetyfifth birthday last Tuesday on the same day that Lady Lytton's granddaughter gave birth to twin daughters. Edith, Dowager Countess Lytton, wsa born in 1841, and was a daughter of the Hon. E. E. Villiers. In 1864 she married the first Earl of Lyttori, who died in 1891, and they had two sons and three daughters. One of these sons is Earl Lytton, chairman of the League of Nations Mission to Manchuria. The Dowager Countess was formerly a Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Victoria and to Queen Alexandra. The Countess had been ill for some days following a fall which resulted in a fractured hip.
