The King's letter to the vice-chair-man of the Imperial War Graves Commission states: “The King trusts that knowledge of the Commission’s work may bring comfort to all in this country and also in Australia, New Zealand, and India, who mourn the dead in the Dardanelles campaign. It was a source of deep satisfaction to His Majesty to observe how the Commission’s representatives had been supported by the friendship and sympathy of the Turkish Government and people.”
