END TO STRIKE
PALESTINE ORDER REPORT QUALIFIED HOPES FOR FINAL SETTIEMENT i [By Telegraph—Press Association—Copy right | LONDON, Aug. 27. The Daily Telegraph’s Jerusa- : lem correspondent says that with unexpected suddenness the Arab Supreme Committee issued a proclamation calling oil the strike. It is understood that the decision followed an all-clay conference which decided to accept meditation proposals submitted by General Nuri Pasha, Irak Foreign Minister, who assured the Arabs that Britain would sympathetically consider their demands. The proclamation gives assurances that when order is restored the Government will suspend Jewish immigration, release all prisoners in the Sarafand concentration camp, and pardon others imprisoned for certain categories of offences during the disturbances. A subsequent message from Jerusalem states that though the Arao leaders describe as premature reports j that they have proclaimed the strike t as ended, they hope that a final set- j tlement will be reached next week.
