WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
TURANGARERE MEETING Mrs. Murdoch presided over the August meeting of the Turangarere | Women’s Institute. After extending a hearty welcome to alt present, in- 1 eluding visitors and one new member, the reports were read and adopted and correspondence dealt with. Following this a very interesting | report of the recent conference held ' in Dunedin was read by the presi- I dent, who attended the conference as I delegate. Parcels of books for the library received from Mesdames Samways, Fowler. K. L. Anderson and L. P. Anderson were much appreciated by tffl members and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to these ladies. Mrs. Fraser, of Rangataua, was also accorded a hearty vote of thanks I for a very interesting demonstration | on smocking. The competition for the month (a j baby’s singlet) was won by Mrs. • Nairn, Mrs. Pohe and Dulcie Bartell I gaining equal points for second place. ; A competition, “jumbled names, ’ was ' won by Mrs. Brophy. A dainty afternoon tea was served i by the hostesses, Mesdames Pohc, j Nairn and Miss Chadwick, after j which the singing of the National ; Anthem brought a very enjoyable j afternoon to a close. I
