BOXING
BOUT FOR WANGANUI RAYNER AND JOE HALL. ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETE. Arrangements have been completed lor the staging ot a bout by Clarrie Rayner ana Joe Hall, of Australia, by the Wanganui Amateur | Boxing Association. This contest will take place about the middle o, September, and the announcement in this direction was greeted with great enthusiasm at the Taranaki cnampionships on Tuesday. The bout should be well supported by Wanganui fistic fans, who will have an opportunity to support the reorganised association and put Wanganui on the fistic map again. The Pluto—McMahon match at Palmerston North last week drew' a record attendance, there being 60'J ringsiders. The body of the theatre was well filled. Enthusiastic supporters chaired McMahon round the ring w'hen he received the decision. The Taranaki championships, held on Tuesday last, provided some good contests. The final ol the welterweight, won by Wesley from Fitzwater, was particularly good. Both boys had the audience on their toes until the final gong. The local featherweight, M. O’Neil, was beaten by G. Thomas after a forceful fight, Thomas being too clever with his left and more experienced. Joe Hall is matched to fight Blatch for the lightweight title in a preliminary to the Jack Carroll v. Barney Ross world title bout.
