Fat Cattle. —Cows £4 17s 6d to £3 15s; heifers £4 10s to £6 17s 6d; Shorthorn bullocks, £l4; vealers, £2 17s Gd to £3. Dairy Cattle. —Springing heifers £5 10s to £9; heifers in milk to £7 5s 6d; springing cows £4 5s to £8 ss, cows in milk £5 10s. A big enquiry j exists for wether hoggets, which, j judging by quotations to hand, appear to be offering in limited numbers. TAIHAPE SALE. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle at their Taihape sale held on Wednesday. Competition for all classes of stock was animated and they report an excellent clearance at auction at full market rates. Quotations. —2 and 4-tooth wethers, 255; fat and forward wethers, 28s 6d ; ewe hoggets, from 275, 30s to 365; wether hoggets, 225, 23s 3d, 23s 9d to 24s 3d; fat wethers, 30s; fat cows, £4 10s, £4 15s to £5, £5 10s, £6 to £7 11s; three-year P.A. heifers with calves at foot, £4. £4 10s, £5, £5 10s to £6. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that at their Taihape sale held last Wednesday, 26th inst., a small yarding of sheep and cattle came forward. Keen competition was experienced for both owe and wether hoggets, being particularly animated on good ewe hoggets, and we effected a total clearance at prices in favour of vendors. A small yarding of pigs sold at satisfactory prices. We quote: Ewe hoggets, 29s 3d to 36s lOd; 200 ewe hoggets, c/a John Stodart, at 36s JOd; wether hoggets. 23s lOd and 24s 9d; dairy cows, £4 15s to £6 7s 6d; fat heifers, £6 15s; sows (to farrow), £2 10s; sows (empty), 15s; sow and litter, £11; weaner pigs, 29s and 30s. UNRESERVED CLEARING SALE Messrs Levin and Company and | Dalgety and Company, Ltd., auc- j tioneers, in conjunction, report on ' clearing sale conducted at Bulls on i account of Mr C. B. Swainson, on I Wednesday:— There- was a good attendance of ’ farmers from the surrounding district, with sound competition for all lots submitted, and the sale was a j very satisfactory one. C. L. INNES’ YEAR The accounts of C. L. Innes and Co., Ltd., brewers, for the year ended June 30, disclose ar net profit of £3840, against £4516 reported in the previous year and £4BO in 1934. However, an increased income tax payment was necessary in respect of the 1935 accounts, reducing the profit for that year to £4103. In the past year the profit figure has been affected by provision for income tax on the higher scale and by more liberal depreciation allowance. With £393 brought forward, £4233 is available. Preference dividend of 8 per cent., less 20 per cent., and an ordinary dividend of 8 per cent., unchanged require £2320, and £1913 is carried forward. Total assets at £53,136 are £3277 higher, accounted for mainly by a rise of £3009 to -£34,03.3 in fixed assets. Shares and investments have increased by £lB2 to £1654, and stocks are £636 higher at £11,710. Paid capital stands at £31,026, an increase of £349. General reserve is unchanged at £7148.
