CRICKETING TROUBLE
FREEMAN AND FARNES ARTICLE ON BOWLINGReceived Aug. 26, 11.50 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 25. Trouble is brewing over a newspaper article in which Freeman, reviewing the Essex-Kent match at Southend and obviously referring to Fames stated: “It is not often professional cricketers complain, but the bowling of a certain Essex amateur in our opinion was definitely unfair. Watt and Fagg were hit and others would have been if they had not taken the only alternative and quickly terminated their innings. Five balls out of six from the bowler were pitched less than half-way down the pitch. After this one views the coming trip to Australia with not a little apprehension.” 4 Th i Daily Herald’s cricketing correspondent says: “Whether or not freeman has any grounds for the allegations it seems a most unfortunate time to make them.” The Essex committee will discuss Freeman’s article.
