GOOD PRICES AT TIMARU [ Per Press Association. ] TIMARU, Aug. 26. A satisfactory rise in values was apparent at the crutchings and oddment sale held at Timaru to-day compared with the corresponding sale of last year. A catalogue of 1300 bales was submitted to a representative bench of buyers who showed keenness in the bidding, the outcome being an increase of approximately 2d per lb. on crutchings over the corresponding sale last year. Japan was the dominating factor and took all classes of crutchings and pieces. Top price was secured for Merino fleece at 15Jd for 12 bales, while for halfbred crutchings IOSd was obtained for an extra-super bale. A feature of the auction was the good price for coarse crutchings, these making up to lOd to be practically on a par with best halfbred crutchings. Merino fleece made up to 15ld, Merino pieces up to 12Jd, Merino locks up to 6id, iMerino crutchings up to lOd; halG bred fleece up to 14id, halfbred pieces up to HSd, halfbred locks up to sld, halfbred crutchings up to lOd, crossbred fleece up to 9d, crossbred pieces up to 7Sd, crossbred locks up to sd, crossbred crutchings, good, up to lOd, medium up to Bld, low up to 6d. The above prices handsomely rewarded sellers who have held on to their oddments for the usuql winter sale.
