TWO THOUSAND PRISONERS FASCISTS ON TRIAL AT MADRID [By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright! Received Aug. 25, 11.20 p.m. MADRID, Aug. 24. REBEL HEADQUARTERS SAID TO BE LISBON MUNITIONS BEING UNLOADED LONDON, Aug. 24. I The News-Chronicle’s Lisbon correspondent says that the Kamerun alter her illegal stoppage by a Spanish loyalist warship is now rapidly unloading light tanks, dismounted aeroplanes, bombs, and hand grenades under the eyes of Portuguese artillerymen, undisturbed by customs officers. The cargo is being sent by rail to Salamanca. • The German steamer Wisberg is unloading a cargo of petrol at Port Montijo, on the other side of the Tagus from the Kamerun. Lisbon is the real headquarters of the Spanish rebellion. The Portuguese police in the frontier town of Elvas are handing over loyalist refugees to be shot by rebel soldiery. Not only the fear of a Red Spain as a neighbour, but apprehension concerning the possibility of a Portuguese revolution is accountable for this “neutrality.” The Spanish ' Embassy is cut off, the telephones are I tapped, and telegrams are mutilated. The loyalist Ambassador (Senoi Claudio Albornoz) is almost deserted by his staff, the real Spanish Embassy being composed of his ex-attaches, who sympathise with the rebel Government at Burgos. Behind them are the Fascist leader. Senor Gilrobles, and the millionaire. Senor Juan March. Unlimited funds and vast quantities of petrol are crossing the Spanish frontier from Portugal. ERRONEOUS REPORTS I ZAMORA AND UZCUDUN ALIVE. LONDON, Aug. 24. The announcement of the deaths of the footballer Zamora, the boxer Uzcudun, and Cardinal Barraquer is incorrect. Zamora is alive and well i at Bilbao. Uzcudun escaped to Pamplona and informed a journalist that he had been imprisoned and released, and was ordered to report to the police daily, but disguised himself and traversed the hills from San Sebastian. The Communists did not attempt to harm him. Cardinal Barraquer has been in Italy throughout the insurrection caring for refugees. The Bishops of Tortosa and Carta- | gena and 52 Spanish priests and j numerous monks have also arrived there. VERGE OF REBELLION NATIVES OF MOROCCO KRIM’S RELEASE DEMANDED PARIS, Aug. 24.
