MOTORISTS ORGANISE A particular point was made oy the president of the North Island .Moto;’ Union, Mr. W. A. O’Callaghan, at the annual conference at Carterton ot the increase in the membership of Automobile Associations. "I am gratified to be able to record that during the year the total membership of associations affiliated to '.he union has increased by 4765, in comparison with the previous year, ’ .-aid Mr. O'Callaghan. "During the two years ended June 30, 1936, the membership of affiliated associations has increased by over 8000, surely a. worthy tribute to the work which is being done by the Automobile Associations.” The membership of the several North Island Associations arc:--Auck-land, 18,906; Taranaki, 1614; South Taranaki, 2357; Wanganui, ’Jit'b; Manawatu, 1617; Hawke’s Bay, 22u0; Wairarapa, 1725; Wellington, 5931. Total, 36,355. The South Taranaki Association, with a percentage of 54.17, had '.he greatest number of members m relation to cars registered at .June £O. The greatest percentage of membership increase for the year was secured by the Hawke’s Bay Association. "In my last report I predicted that in two years’ time our membership should number 40,000. If the good work of the year under review can be carried on during the coming year my prediction will be exceeded,” said the president.
