WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

MANGAPURUA. The August meeting of the Mangapurua Women's Institute was held at Mrs. Shaw’s home. Mrs. Bettjeman presided, and welcomed all present. After song and aspirations, correspondence was read and business dealt with, at the conclusion of which came the social afternoon, which took the form of a gift afternoon in honour of the first institute bride-to-be. Mrs. Brown, vice-president, in a neat little speech, asked Miss Bettjeman to accept the gifts her friends had brought. Afternoon tea and the opening of parcels brought a most bright and happy meeting to a close.
