On Thursday evening, in the W.D.F.U. rooms, an enjoyable “welcome home” party arranged by the library staff was given for Miss Blackett, the librarian, who recently returned from a trip to England. The evening took the form of a dance, the many guests present spending a pleasant time. During supper, the Mayor (Mr. W. J. Rogers), in a brief speech welcomed home the guest, of honour. Mr. G. The members of the Westmere Rifle Club held a successful dance on Thursday evening in the Westmere Hall. Mr. F. Laird was a popular M.C., and the evening proceeded merrily from start to finish. A much-ap-preciated tap dance was given by Miss B. Burke and Mr. W. Jordan and they were doubly encored, giving a waltz tap and an extra tap dance. The winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss A.
