MILITARY BALL

M ELLINGTON-WEST COAST REGIMENT. A festive atmosphere prevailed at the Elrick last evening when the officers of the Wellington-West Coast Regiment held their annual ball. Over 170 guests were received on arrival by Lieut.-Colonel W. S. McCrorie and Mrs. McCrorie, who was gowned in a frock of black panne velvet with trail of white flowers at the neckline, and ivory glacier velvet wrap with black fur collar. Tne lounge was decorated with streamers in the regimental colours in canopy effect, while the regimental silver cups and trophies adorned the table. The bright and tuneful dance numbers played by the New Gaiety Orchestra were much enjoyed by the dancers. The committee comprised Major D. A. C. Lilburne, E.D., Captains A. Rennie, J. W. Barry, N.Z.S.A., E. H Whiting, J. Luxford, Lieuts. S. Hanton (secretary), J. Grant, E. E. Wales and H. J. Dalzell. Among those present were: —Lieut.Colonel J. R.
