THE QUEEN MARY
y\LTH(H <;H not, as yet, set for making a bid for the Blue Riband of rhe Atlantic, performances to date indicate that when the ship has made a trip or two and the commander has become familiar with the vast mechanism which is under his control, the Queen Mary will give a good account of herself in the matter of speedy passages between the United Kingdom and the United States of America. When a determined effort is made to secure the coveted distinction for the Red Ensign there is every prospect of it being crowned with success. But it should not be forgotten that the accomplishment of speed is not sufficient in itself, for if travel comfort is impaired, then the speed success will have been achieved in vain. People cannot pn joy themselves when they are not able to sleep for several days and nights on end. It would appear from reports, however. that travel comfort has been achieved in a superlative degree on the Queen Mary, and this, combined with accomplishments in tlie matter of speed, will place her well ahead of any rival afloat.
