REGENT— H. G. Wells’ vision of the future, "Things to Come,” commences to-day and features Raymond Massey, Margaret Scott, Ralph Richardson, and Sir Cedric Hardwicke. Next Wednesday night “Drift Fence,” a thrilling Zane Grey Western, will commence. Filmed entirely in natural colour, “The Trail of the Lonesome Pine” will start its Wanganui season on Saturday next and will feature Sylvia Sidney, Henry Fonda and Fred Mac Murray. PLAZA—“SiIIy Billies,” featuring Wheeler and oo,; c\, iw.smenccs to-morrow, and on the same programme is "O’Malley of the Mounted,” with George O’Brien in the starring role. Next Wednesday “The Witness Chair” will have Ann Harding ;n another of her famous characterisations. “The Prisoner of Shark Island,” announced for Saturday next, stars Warner Baxter and Gloria Stuart. MAJESTic—“Robin Hood of El Dorado,” a tale of old California, stars Warner Baxter, Ann Loring and Bruce Cabot, and will he screened to-morrow. Lionel Barrymore, Maureen O’Sullivan. Eric Linden and Spring Byington are featured players :n “The Voice of Bugle Ann,” to commence screening next Wednesday. Next Saturday’s offering is “Colleen,” with Dick Powell, Ruby Keeler, Hugh Herbert and Jack Oakie in the principal roles. DUCHESS—“CaIi of the Wild,” screening to-night and. to-morrow night, feataures Loretta Young and Clark Gable. Jack Hulbert is starred, in “Bulldog Drummond,” next Wednesday’s offering. Joe E. Brown and Ann Dvorak' are' the' stars in “Bright Lights,” to screen next Friday and Saturday.
