THE BROPHY CASE REPORTERS’ EVIDENCE Received June 18, 11,5 p.m. MELBOURNE, June 18. At the inquiry into the shooting of Police Superintendent Brophy and the 'police reports relating thereto, more evidence was gfven to-day by reporters. Robert Lawson, of the Age, produced shorthand notes of a statement made by Detccti ve-I inspector McKerral on the morning following the shooting. He was confident that the statement by McKerral produced in Court was not identical with the one issued to the Press after the shooting. Reginald Warren, of the Sun-Pic-torial, said he interviewed Superintendent Brophy at the hospital. He declared it was not true, as stated in the Herald, that he was decoyed to Royal Park and that he was not shot there. Brophy added: “I went to Royal Parade on an official mission. I was standing alone with a revolver in my left hand, which became sweaty. J made an attempt to change it to my right hand and the weapon exploded twice. H wounded me in the right forearm and cheek. Witness asked Brophy why the pistol went off twice. Brophy replied they were finely set. The inquiry was adjourned.
