"B” COMPANY ACTIVITIES ENJOYABLE RE UNION HELD Ah enjoyable re-uuivn was held in Wanganui vn Monday when Members of ■*B” Company, of tne Wellington-West Coast Regiment held their annual reunion in the drill hall. The Company Commander (Captain E. H. Whiting presided and the attendance included officers, N.C.O.’s and men of the regiment, together with parents, friends and members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. Captain Waiting extended a welcome to all visitors, including several members of the company wuo came fiom Turakina and gave a resume of the work done during the year. He paid a tribute to tire efficiency of tiie company and spoke ot the good work »eing done by bergt.-Major b. Al. Alai--(-•lui, the backbone of the company, to whom a great deal cl credit was due. J’he champion shot of tne battalion was a member of ‘B” Company. Llex'on privates and N.C.U.’s had qualified lor the marksman’s badge and a further 11 had passed as Lewis gun marksmen. The miniature rifle trophy had been won by “B’’ Company also. Tne speaker stressed the importance o£ regular attendance at parades and spoke of the value to any country ot a trained army, lie contended that if a country was worth living in it was worth fighting fur. ibe day might come when New Zealanders would be calle*! upon to defend their own land. He had no doubt that ait would rise in response to the call uf the colours, but those who were devoting a certain amount of their present time to military training were to be highly commended. Captain F. H. Gould, who served in •B” Company during the Great War, reicrred to some of their activities, while overseas, particularly during 1916 and 1917. "B” Company had served in Egypt and France and had u record to be proud ot. Lieutenant-Cuionel W. S. McCrorie, ’nicer Commanding the First Battalion jf the Wellington-West Coast Reginent congratulated the company on the good woik it was du-ing and spoke also of the necessity oi military training. He presented trophies won ‘luring the year and commended the recipients on their performances. During the evening cciniuunity singing, led by -Sergt. I’. Koorey, was a feature of the gathering. Musical and liber items were supplied by L/Corp. W. Oram, Mr. Oram, snr., Mr. L. Dear, I’vte. F. Dear, I’vte. Johnston, Pvtc. Broome and others.
