An application was received from the Wanganui Hockey Association for use of Spriggens Park on which to play a match. Fiji ladies v. Wanganui ladies, on July 11. Owing to the adoption ot the Moye Scheme and the consequent heavier' commitments in the way of Rugbv matters, it was decided to regretfully decline the use of Spriggens Park for the proposed fixture. It was pointed out that the remaining Saturdays would just permit the Rugby second round being completed according to schedule, and that at least £5O per Saturday was required to maintain the finances of the union. The committee deliberated the matter for 20 minutes but could find no way in which it could cooperate with the association, much as it desired to do so. The Wainui-a-rua Union wrote, asking that that union be kept m view when arranging representative matches throughout the season. The letter stated that the union was quite confident of placing a better team in the field than last year. IS hat it needed was a chance to display itself. 1 lay ers in the scattered Wainui-a-rua district were put to considerable expense in travelling to club matches and would appreciate the encouragement a representative match would give them. It was decided to agree to the request and to advise that a fixture will be arranged later in the season. Marist Club's application to re classify W. Dixon was approved, on the recommendation of the Classification Committee. Two other applications were held over—those in respect to AL, O’Neill and J. Reardon. It was decided to instruct the junior selectors to pick the possibles-probables junior teams as quickly as possible and publish the names. This match is to be played at 9 a.m. as a curtain raiser to the’representat ive match, Wanganui v. Manawatu on Tuesday next, King »
