WAIHOU MURDER
N 0 CLUE FOUND YET [ Per Press Association. J WHANGAREI, June T2. There is still no clue to the murderer o£ Mr. Nelson. There are now 12 police and detectives engaged, Detec-tive-bergeant Walsh arid Deteelite Slater having arrived from Auckland. One partv is clearing with spades and slashers rushes and other growth near the scene of the murder, wuile another party is making investigations near Rangiahua. A gun bought at Kaikolie on May 27 by Nelson was left at the home of llawiri in the valley, likewise a box of cartridges. Hawin used the guu several times shooting rabbits. This gun and another, which has been iu Rawiri’s possession lor some years, were those taken possession of by the police. Rawiri and hrs wife, also Mrs. Nelson, were at the Rangiahua Hotel when the shooting occurred. Rawiri gave no permission to anvbody to use the guns. jack Shapland, conductor of the tri-weeklv rural mail from Okaihau to KanHahiia, states that he is sure that two men were waiting at Mr. Nelson s vai< oi the tighi of the tragedy. One took the mail and the other, whom he believes was Mr. Nelson, stood back. The police do not attach importance to this statement.
