On Monday evening Mr. Harel'l, Darvill was farcwellcd by the Methodist Bible Class, of which he is secretary, and presented with a collection of books. The presentation was made by Rev. G. H. Goodman, who paid a high tribute to Air. Darvill’s work as secretary and leader of the class. Air. Darvill feelingly responded. He left Taihape last evening to take up a position in Whakatane. At the annual meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ Guild this week Airs. J. AfcDonald was elected president and Alis. J. Gryant secretary. Air. Ormond Wilson, ALP. for Rangitikei, will address a meeting of the Taihape branch of the Labour Party one June 4. 'The death occurred of Airs. AL E. Al. Gardner at the Taihape Hospital on Tuesday at the age of 55 years. Deceased was a resident of Afangaweka. GENERAL NEWS. The prizes at a euchrv party held under the auspices of the Foresters’ Lodge on Tuesday evening were won by Air. G. H. Scott (men) and Mrs. AV. A. Smith (ladies).
