WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, May 26, 4 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone extends from South Eastern Australia on to the South Island, but pressure has remained low to the north and east of the Dominion. Forecast. —Winds: Easterly, strong to gale in the far north, elsewhere southerly to south-easterly prevailing, moderate to strong about and north of Cook Strait, and light to moderate over the South Island. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough north of Castlepoipt and a heavy but decreasing southerly swell thence southwards. Aloderate to rather rough on the west coast of the North Island, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: East to south-east winds, strong to gale force in the northern portion with rough to high seas; moderate in the southern portion with a moderate southerly swell. Weather: For the most part fair to fine with cold temperatures, changeable and unsettled, however, in the northern and eastern districts of the North Island with scattered rain and some heavy falls in the extreme northern and north-eastern parts.
