HOOTS AND CHEERS BLOMFIELD DISQUALIFIED BOESCH'S AMAZING DROP-KICKS. BEST BOUT OF SEASON. ( Per Press Association. ) WELLINGTON, Atay 25. To a mixed and excited chorus of hoots and cheers, “Lofty” Bioinfield (N.Z.) was disqualified -in a wrestling bout with Paul Boesch (U.S.A.) at Wel--1 lington Town Hall to-night. In the seventh round Bioinfield clapped on diis octopus clamp when both men were near the ropes. Boesch conceded a submission fall almost immediately, and Blonifield was disqualified by the referee for not making an effort to break the hold. Boesch had won a fall in the third round with a body press following several drop-kicks, two of which, delivered with, amazing speed from a standing start, hit Blonifield on the point of the jaw and thoroughly dazed him. The bout was one of the best of the season. The “octopus clamp” which is a type of reverse deathlock applied further up, was only recently perfected by Blomfield. When the hold was used by Blomfield at Hamilton recently there was a minor demonstration by the audience because he did not immediately break it after he had been awarded a fall. The Waikato Times, however, stated that this was scarcely fair to the New Zealander, as he was unable to extricate himself without the assistance of the referee.—“ Headlock.” earl McCready unbeaten SAVAGE DISQUALIFIED REFEREE’S ORDERS DISOBEYED [ Per Press Association.,] AUCKLAND, May 25. A large crowd witnessed the meeting of Earl McCready, claimant to the heavyweight wrestling championship of the British Empire, and Steve Savage. AlcCready has not suffered a defeat during his stay in New Zealand for the past two seasons. The contest ended in the seventh round with the disqualification of Savage for disobeying the orders of the referee. He had McCready imprisoned on the ropes near a corner and was indulging in forearm jolting. The referee ordered a break but Savage refused to release his hold. A. penalty fall was awarded against him but even then he persisted. The referee secured a toehold on the aggressor and with a head pull he dragged Savage away, but only momentarily, as AlcCready was once more pounced upon while be was still entangled with the ropes. The referee then disqualified Savage and awarded the match to AlcCready.
