i BOOT'S HALF-MILE RECORD canterbury oompt, aint. ; UNFAIR TREATMENT AEEEGEID. [ Ter Pres» A Reflation. J CHRISTCHURCH, May 25. Allegations of unfair treatment of its application for a record Cor 880 yards made by V. P. Boot were made at a meeting of the Canterbury Centre of the Amateur Athletic Association this evening. J.t was decided to ask the N.Z.A.A.A. to reconsider sits decision. The application, it was stated, had been rejected on the ground that the Centre had not. complied with the rules in. measuring the track. The reason was that to- measure, the track directly after the race would have meaijt holding up lhe athletic meeting for more than an hour. The track was measured before the race and again the following morning, and members stated that other records by overseas athletes had been recognised under these conditions.
