Wanganui theatregoers of some eleven .sears ago will have pleasant memories of the visit at that time of Long Pack Sam and his wonder show. The famous Oriental now returns with still greater attractions to play a season of two nigh’s and matinee. Referring to Long Tack Sara in an issue of September last, the Shanghai Tribune remarked. a> follows: “Some years ago Long Tack Sam juggled knives on the Shanghai Bund. To-day, after ten tours ? round the world, and appearing in al' the principal cities, he has returned to his native town where he possesses vast estates. He is the proprietor of three theatres in Hongkong, and also of the b’g Chinese restaurant in the West End of London. And well he deserves his good fortune, for he is a born showman and an expert in the highly difficult art of pleasing the t'ueatregoing public in all parts of the world. Long Tack Sam has ‘it’ in a superlative degree. He bubbles over witn enthusiasm as he presents himself or any of his fine troupe of Cantonese, and soon has his audience bubbling with him. This in Shanghai, where the climate makes us regard the best of entertainment ' with calm, is no mean feat. In the company there are jugglers extraordinary, acrobats who balance each other in positions xbich challenge belief, piate epinnere, horizontal bar workers, trapeze artists and others, all presented by the inimitable Sam at dazzling speed, and all the time he keeps up & merry line of patter.” A special matinee on Tuesday, 19th., at 2.30.
