RANGITIKEI RUGBY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. | The management committee of the . Rangitikei Rugby Union held a meet- j ing in the Jockey Club rooms on Thursday evening. Mr. S. C. McKenzie presided. Also present were Messrs. J. Preston, I. Jolly, G. Griffen, R. Rivers, A. Henwood, W. S. Page, Glasgow, L. Bull and the secretary. ” Owing to insufficient senior players the Bulls Club had to withdraw their nomination from the senior competition. A request from Turakina to nominate a junior team in the Rangitikei competitions was accepted. It. was decided that Halcombe seniors be the first holders of the Raymond Cup and the Halcombe juniors the holders of the Bengal CupThe secretary was instructed to write to the Wanganui Rugby Union expressing regret that having taken in the Mcye scheme and there were several rep. matches in view, the Ranritikei Union cannot see its way of staging the Wanganui v. M airarapa Rugby fixture at Marton. H was left in the hands of the fixture committee to arrange a match against Bush Union, to be played on the -Marton Park. A deputation from the Wednesday footballers in Marton, making a request to play in the Palmerston Wednesday competition was refused. Passes are again to be issued to referees’ wives for the season. CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW.

The show was continued on Thursdav evenin" and Friday, and considering the unfavourable weather conditions, a large crowd was present each evening, and the stall holders reported a brisk trade. MARTON HARRIERS. The Marton harriers will hold a whistle run to-day, starting from the Anglican Church at 2.30 p-m. As there are’onlv two more whistle runs before the commencing of the Todd Cup series, harriers are requested to attend if possible so that they may qualify for trophy races, and to give the handicapper an idea of the form of the athlete. As Bulls have withdrawn . from the senior competition and doubt is expressed whether Ohingaiti will be able to field a team, there may be only three teams competing. However, the three clubs will be able to field strong fifteens and afetr the first round the I Moye scheme comes into operation. Football then may be brighter than was expected in Rangitikei this year.

In the junior competition, Turakina’s nomination has made a total of five teams. It will mean now that both the junior and senior fixtures will have to be revised.
