WOOL CONSCRIPTION

A WORLD SURVEY LONDON, April 29. The Imperial Economic -Committee has issued a 300-page survey of the world consumption of wool in 46 countries from 1928 to 1935, showing that consumption maintained a healthy statistical position. The factors contributing to this are the maintenance of activity in the United Kingdom, which uses one-fifh of the estimated world production, and the increased consumption of raw wool in small countries. The report gives emphasis to the reorganisation of the wool industry, the bulk of whose increased manufactures were absorbed at home. The future development of the Japanese industry appears to lie in the possibilities of export expansion, unless the low standard of Jiving in Japan, Korea, and I Manchukuo can be raised.
