PORT OF WANGANUI FIGURES FOR APRIL FURTHER INCREASE RECORDED. A further increase is recorded in the \pril customs returns fur the port of Wanganui. Figures reveal that during last month £165“ 9s 6d mure was collected in revenue than during the corresponding period last year. April i 1936. receipts from all sources oi revenue totalled £14,269 2s Id. as against £12.611 12. s “d for the same period last vear. Last month’s figures indicate a steadv increase in all departments, with the exception of beer duty. This section, however, is likely tv x arv and he figures are no real indication ot the position. The decrease in beer duty amounts to only £B5 7s. The fact that more petrol is being used is evinced by i the fact that receipts foi petrol tax I amount to £3587 9s 6d. as against £2889 , I '.s for last year, the increase being 1 £697 16s 6d.
