CIVIL SERVICE
POLITIC/\L RIGHTS MR. SAVAGE'S STATEMENT [ Per Press Association. ) WELLINGTON. April 29. ‘‘Before the present part of the session of Parliament is concluded, legislation will be introduced by the Government to restore to members of the Civil Service complete civil and political rights,” said the Rt. Hon. AL J. Savage to-day. The Attorney-General was engaged in preparing the Bill, which would restore to Civil Servants all rights they had previously enjoyed. Mr. Savage said that he saw no reason why servants of the Government should not enjoy all of the privileges of free speech and political action enjoyed by other sections of the community. Each' of the branches of the Civil Service had its own organisation, and there was no reason why such branches should not be allowed to use their funds, if they desired to do so, to ( assist political parties.
