ANZAC DAY Anzac Day service was held in the theatre when the Mayor (Dr. Feltham) ; was in the chair, and the Rev. T. Tiustum, of the Alethodist Chuich gave an ; address pointing out the responsibility of the living tu the memory of those who made the supreme saeiifice. Rev. C. Dobbs, Rev. A. Lane and Captain ) Cresswell also took part. A large number of wreaths were placed on the graves of all returned soldiers. A number of members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association were present. BOROUGH ELECTION I There were two candidates nominated ; for the vacancy iu the Borough Council caused through the death of Air. Walter Harris. SALVATION ARMY On Sunday afternoon tne primary . school hall recently secured by the Salvation Army was opened py Commissioner and Airs. Adams, assisted by Colonel J. Scolney and Alajor Hildreth. Jack remarked that he thought it would help to create more interest in the. election of the time of the closing of nomination was stated in the notice calling the meeting. The notice said that where the average attendance did not exceed 240 nominations could be. made, ai, the meeting but the general public was not aware what the average attendance was for the last year.
