THE APRIL MEETING The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society and the Slewart Karitane Home was> held in the Plunket rc-onrs on Tuesday. Those present were: Ales dames H. D. Robertson (in the chair), ■ Jenkins, Ralph Brown, AVilberfoss, Graham, Bates, Taiboys, Oliver. A. E. Halligan, Brinkman, Jamieson, Hine, Keesing, Boyes, Bennett Knight and Alisscs Stanford and Tizard. Apologies for absence were received from Alesdames Dwyer, Cole, Warnock, C. Alillward, L. Gilberd, Zieslcr, Wickham, A. Crawford. In opening the meeting, the president moved a vote of sympathy with Air. Uottcrill and his family in the loss they had so recently sustained. T'lis was carried by the members standing in silence. Reporting on the work of the Plunket nurses, the senior nurse writes that they had registered 74 new cases for the month of Alarch and 70(J cas’cs still remain on the books. Aethers and babies who have visited the various ofiices number .1461 and the nurses had paid 322 visits to tl « homes. Every effort is being made by the society to keep in tout a with the older children, toddlers as called by the nurses. To help this branch the comimtee has decided to furnish a special toddler’s room, which is to be called the “Toddlers’ Room,” furnished by the pupils of tihe Wanganui Girls’ Co’lege as a small mark ol appreciation of the excellent work done by tut college guls and with the hope that they will look upon the room as their special interest. Miss Tizard, who was present, expressed her willingness to co-operate, and said she fell that the girls of the college would look upon the adoption of the name as an honour, and she was sure they would be keenly iuleicsted. .Matron Dawes reported that mo them admitted numbered eight and mothers discharged eight; babies admitted 15 and babies discharged 14. The largest number in residence in. one day was. Al others four, babies 24. Alotlrers and babies wire sent in from the following districts; Wanganui, Utaki, Alangamahu, Owhango, Xgamatapouri, Ngitcre, Marton, Alnnaia, Feilding, Waverlcy, All are progressing well. Of the babies admitted four were pre mature. Nurses Williams, DymOck and Clark have completed their training and Nurses Edwards, Mac Donald nnd Egan commenced training. The committee passed a very hearty vote of thanks to the memlreis of the Waverlcy and Taumarunui Plunket committees for their donation each cf £5 towards the hospital funds. Mrs. Ralph Brown, who is lea' 1: g for England early in Alay, applied f n r leave of absence. In granting this the president wished Afrs. Brown a vey pleasant trip. Special mention was made to Ihr work done by Airs. Oliver nnd the Castlccliff ladies in organising the jumble sale and f°r the very satisfac- ! tory result, the sum of £-10 lieing the , rc.-ult of their labouts The competition for the pram donated by Messrs. Trowimon, Ltd., was won by June Alitchcll, Guyion Sired ___________
