Way, secretary of the Marton Jockey Club, at a meeting of lhe general committee on Thursday evening. When lhe secretary’s application for leave of absence was received the chairman, Mr. 11. J. McManaway, who stated that the finance committee had approved of I hr, request, referred to the faithful service, rendered by the secretary during the thirty years since hr undertook the secretarial duties. 'l'hc chairman expresed Lhe hope that the trip would be of great benefit to Air. Way. On behalf of the committer, and as a mark of the respect in which he was held, the chairman presented Air. Way duties. The chairman expressed the hope that he would return very much benefited by the t rip. Air. Wav suitably responded, thanking the committee for their splendid assistance and co-operation during the years in which he had held office. Mr. Wav leaves at the end of the month for* Auckland to join the Alontorey, which is dur In leave on April 4.
