Girl’s Chosen Occupation. Aliss Kate Johnson, of Christchurch, who- has been farming in North Auckland, has chor'Cli “the land” as her occupation. She has commenced work in earm-fit on her own farm, which her , father has bought for her at Tai Tapu. . Dance at Nukuniaru. This evening in the Nukumaru Hall a grand dance will be held and for whieih music will be played by Hooker’s Alerrymakers (featuring Stuart Gordu-n). The programme includes novelty dances and patrons are assured of an enjoyable evening. Buses leave Hodson’r. garage at 7.30 p.m. Orphanage Garden Party. Many preparations are being made for the success of the garden party which will take place in the ground of the Orphanage, Alma Road, in aid cf Orphanage funds. Helpers arc arranging stalls of all kinds and a number of organisations are co-operating to assist the institution. Given good weather, the function should be a delightful c-ne and attract many visitors. There is need for money in the maintenance of the home and doubtless there will be many warm-hearted people who willhe Ip this worthy cause. The organisers of the stalls have many attractive articles ready for display and amusement in various forms will be prc/vided. Of course, there will be afternoon tea. which will bo served in the large dining-room of the Orphanage.
