MARTON
THE CIVIC THEATRE ‘ ‘ HEART ’8 DESIRE ’ ’ “Heart’s Desire,” the brilliant 8.1. P. musical romance commences tomorrow (Saturday). The star is Richard Tauber, than whom there is no more popular musical artist alive. Supporting him are three really lovely leading ladies. One is a brunette, one a blonde, and the other i* auburnhaired. The first of these is Leonora Corbett, who plays the role of Francis Wilson in the film, a sophisticated English beauty who tours the Continent searching for a tenor to play the leading role in a new opera composed by her friend. Beautiful Leonora in an artist as well as a film star, for the lovely dresses she wears in the film were specially designed by herself. The second lovely lady is Katheen Kelly, a comparative newcomer, whose performance should earn her many more good parts. She has always had ambitions for a screen career, and now she has attained it. In the film she is Tauber’s sweetheart in Vienna —the girl who suffers when he is taken away from his simple surroundings to a successful operatic career in London. The auburn-haired one is Diana Napier and she irs perhaps the most interesting personality of the three. In real life she is the future Mrs. Tauber. In the picture she plays the role of an operatic star who sings in the new opera opposite Tauber. Tauber singe, two Schumann numbers which are the gems of the picture. MABTON DAHLIA SHOW The Marton Dahlia Show, was. held in the Empire Hall on Thursday under the auspices of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. The produce stall was in charge of Miss Madge Poppe and Miss L, Morrison, and the tearooms was supervised by Mrs. L. Mclndoe. Mr. W. 11.
