HACKSHAW-SEARLE SHIELD PREPARATIONS COMPLETED The Castlecliff Surf Section has completed arrangements regarding the programnre for the annual rurf championships to be held at Castled iff on March 8. The programme for the day has been arranged as follows: 10.30 a.m.—Land drill. 11 a.in. —Gibson Cup, heats. 12.15 to 1.15 p.m.—Luncheon inter- ' 1 1.15 p.m.—Hackshaw - Searle Shield heats. 2.30 p.m. —March-Past. 3.30 p.m. —Hackshaw - Searle Shield, final. 4 p.m. —Gil)nOn Cup, final. 4.30 p.m. —Bellman’s ChampionshipIt is anticipated that more teams from other centies will attend the championships, than ever before, and it can be confidently stated that tire spectacular inarch past display will surpass anything seen on a New Zealand beach. The Castlecliff Surf Section have made arrangements to entertain the 200 visiting surfmen, and hope that the Wanganui public will give them their support in giving the outside teams a welcome to be long remembered. The visitors from Wellington, Opunake, New Plymouth, Hawera, and Palea will arrive in Wanganui on Saturday March 7, and will be entertained at a carnival dance to be held in the Peter Pan Hall on Saturday evening, and the Wanganui dancers are assured of an excellent evening’s dancing, as no expense is to be spared in giving the visitors a good time.
